o I’ve been meaning to write this review since that first weekend Heartstopper stole our hearts but then the more time passed, the more I questioned if I should do it anymore, because who wants one more person (specifically me) talking about the show everybody is talking about? But then I realized if I want to write it, why not? So, here we go.

  • The adaptation. We have seen all, from the bad ones that shouldn't have existed to the meh and also the few actually good ones. Heartstopper? Is.just.perfect. The fact that the author, Alice Oseman is so involved in the project is visible in so many ways (Production companies take notes, please). The series is so faithful to the original story to the detail that it does feel like seeing the comic coming to life and not just that, we even get more of it because a lot of the amazing secondary characters are explored more (only for not poor Isaac but I trust on season 2). They also added elements from the visuals of the comic that not only make it look super cool and cute but also make you feel all those powerful teen emotions.
  • A show about teens, with actual teens. We need more of this. A story that can make us happy and excited. Charlie is turning 15, that age when every single first is like a tsunami of emotions and the story captures that in such a beautiful way. It has the perfect balance of innocent cute love while also portraying the hard reality of bullying and homophobia. Also, the cast was spot on in every aspect. They are close to the character's ages and, their looks and their acting combined, bring the characters to life.
  • The message. This is the kind of show that is long overdue and needed. LGBTTTIQ+ community finally represented the right way in every single aspect. Because everybody should see that they can have healthy relationships. That everybody deserves that kind of love. We need to stop telling the community that all they can have are Bens #WeAllNeedaNickNelson

If I imagine myself while watching Heartstopper it would be me surrounded by cute animations just like in the show because I fell in love with it. It made me smile like a loon and be at the edge of my seat and it was all I could think about while I wasn’t watching it. That’s why finishing it felt like waking up from a good dream, with a bittersweet sensation because it made me so happy and now I just wish I could go back to it and have some more. And maybe that's why I decided to write this after all.

u Wei Yi is a brilliant and serious physics student who has figured out his plans. Si Tu Mo is an optimistic girl, and while she is trying to figure out what to do now that she is majoring in accountancy but wants to work in marketing she at least knows one thing, she is inlove with her best friend and one day they'll be together.

I want to share why I loved Put your head on my shoulder so much and if you haven't watched it I recommend you to give it a chance (but here's a tip, always skip the intros in chinese dramas if you don't want spoilers).

LIST OF THOUGHTS
(Beware some Spoilers)

  • The drama is set in the last year of university so we see the characters going through job interviews, internships, the thesis process, and graduation. So much happens in those times and I liked that it focused on them. C-dramas align more with the way I lived those times.
  • At the beginning, Si Tu Mo is in love with her best friend, Fu Pei, but he is always giving her for granted. He isn't even a good friend because he is always forgetting about her and breaking his promises. It was nice to see her deciding that she didn't deserve being treated like that and then falling in love with someone that actually made her a priority and cared for her.
  • This time we see the male protagonist, Gu Wei Yi being the one pinning over the girl first. It was especially funny to see this super smart guy and his laboratory partners being completely clueless on how to approach her. He doesn't know how to express his feelings but he's always trying. It somehow made it sweeter. Also, the way he was always lovingly looking at her melted my cold heart.
  • Oh, the cliché of the protagonists having to live in the same house. Is meant to force the characters to be together so they can know each other better, and eventually, fall for each other despite their differences. And though I have seen it quite a few times before I have to say this is one of the best I've seen (hurray!). You see, is so well done because it creates a lot of special moments and details between them so I enjoyed it.
I was looking for a chinese drama that was cute, innocent and adorable and Put your head on my shoulder was in the highly rated ones so I went for it. In the first minutes I had already a feeling it was right for me, I don't know how to explain it but there was just something about seeing the protagonist, Si Tu Mo happily twirling in her beautiful skirt that made me empathize with her. She gave me the vibe of being a dreamer (like me) and a happy soul (like I wish I could be) and the more I watched it, the happier it made me watching it.

ou know how it is here, if Kim So-Hyun is in it we give the kdrama a chance. And she doesn't disapoint in this one where we see her in the strongest role she has taken so far.

It starts like other historical dramas, you know with conspiracies, betrayals, power-struggles and lost of blood everywhere (that make me half cover my eyes because I can't see even fake blood), however, I start seeing this one was something else especially because of its characters.

  • We have a story that centers around a strong and heroic female character, princess Pyeong Gang (also known as Yeom Ga Jin) that literary takes action into her hands and goes to the center of the battle. Is an epic story of a woman that goes outside of gender limitations and seeing her made me feel empowered and brave.

  • The same goes for On Dal, he is a powerful and legendary general but is also a very sensitive caring person and I absolutely adored his character because of this. On Dal is a badass at war, but his soul suffers deeply when a life is taken away, even worst when he has to be the one taking it. Is like a part of him dies too since he has a lot of empathy and values life, especially after his father's death. I really liked how both On Dal and Ga Jin find strength from their respective parents for their own paths.

  • All the characters aren't black and white. At times are allies, at other enemies because they have their motives to be one or become the other. Like the king, his son, the queen, and the leader of the assassins, they are all complicated characters. Also we need to talk about the instructor (Go Geon) and the potion owner (Hae Mo Yong) who have their own agenda that constantly changes that made me love and hate them at the same time and the most passionate in the drama (I mean, I'm making a petition for a kdrama focused on this characters or with these actors because their chemistry was on).

RWTMR (is a very long title even with only the initials) is a beautiful and epic historical drama, based on a classic Goguryeo folktale, without a dull moment in the story since there are so many things that happen and with very memorable characters that make it worth watching.

In the years I was dealing with anxiety, I remember being at the doctor's waiting room with the Vampire Academy books keeping me company. I had already read them but for some reason, I wanted to go back to that world. It wasn't until I was reading them again that I realized why:

1. They felt comforting because they reminded me of happier times and because re-reading the characters was like meeting with old friends.

2. Between the magic and the vampires, they talked about mental illness, before we were more openly talking about it, and before I really understood what was happening to me. The mixture made it easier to understand especially for someone like me that loves stories that use fantasy to interpret the world and that help me understand myself better. Probably because I grew up reading fantasy and seeing the way it connected the imagination with the real world.

In the books, users of spirit magic become mentally unstable since they get their power from their own essence. The effects are described as "darkness" and that was how my own emotions also felt at that moment. Is so amazing when you find in books the exact words that describe how you are feeling and in this case, the inner turmoil I was going through.

The world has changed so much since the first book came out. As the books progress so does the way mental health is portrayed in them, especially in the Blood Lines series where we get to see Adrian putting his mental health as a priority. Also, we get amazing quotes like this one:

"I could see her toughening up, working hard to put all those emotions away because she thought that's what it means to be strong. I wanted to tell her that strength wasn't about hiding your feelings, that it was ok for her to feel this way..."
-Silver Shadows by Richelle Mead

The first time I read the series I felt empathy, but after going through difficult times myself with mental health, the second time I also felt understood.

Heartland was one of those shows I started watching as a teenager. But when the channel that broadcasted it in my country disappeared so all the good shows I watched there did too.

I actually didn't know there were more seasons until I found Heartland years later on Netflix. The adventure paid off more than I could have expected, because watching it now, with more experiences of my own, made it more meaningful. Despite the number of seasons I actually watched them effortlessly because watching the show after all these years felt kinda like meeting again with old friends, it felt comforting. The fact that this series has stayed on air for fourteen years is more than impressive so here I am with my list of the whys and the hows.

LIST OF THOUGHTS

  • The beautiful views of High River, Alberta are perfect to make you feel calmer (which teenager me perhaps didn't appreciate as much as adult stressed me). The place is a character on its own and I'm not gonna lie, I'd love to take a tour of the locations one day if there's ever a chance to experience them myself because they are breathtaking.
  • Of course, the horses! I love the way the series centers on the love for horses, the support, and the connection they form with humans. With all the characters we get to see so many areas in the big equestrian world (something that made this city girl feel like getting a glimpse into a different life).
  • Through the stories of horses, we also get to see the stories of the humans. Amy, the protagonist is a "horse whisper", someone with a special gift to understand and help troubled horses and, most of the time, their problems are linked to the humans behind them. Because of that we see themes like grief, trauma, addiction... and the process of healing and growing. Life is hard for both horses and humans and they need second chances to get back on track ;). I realized it's show that started talking about mental health way before it became an open discussion and that it has done it so well.
  • Each of the protagonists has flaws we can identify from the very first episode and that are what often puts them in trouble. This is part of what keeps the plot going for the show for so many seasons.
  • We see the main characters growing up and as a result of that, we witness when they reach important events in their lives as time passes. Good moments like graduations, weddings, births, but also their struggles through divorce and grief. There are things the audience can feel related to.
  • Now the show is not perfect. There's a lot of characters that get forgotten and while I understand how it must be very difficult because of actors' schedules there are some that I find unforgiven. I mean, I had my hopes up that Lou was gonna end with Native Canadian Scott like in the books so I was crushed that the writers decided to go with "a different direction" because then we see Lou having terrible relationship after terrible relationship. Also, where's Tim Fleming's son? How can you forget about a son for ten seasons? I'll give the show credit though because it has managed some really good comebacks of old characters so we can get to see their clousure like Mallory.
  • Definitely, one of the big keys of the show to stay for so many years is its faithful audience. Is kind of like Little House on the Prairie, it comes from books, is a show about family for families and generations have grown watching it. How long will this show keep going? I don't have a clue, but I do know that there are so many people that like me, love the show and will keep watching as long as is still there.

Horses, beautiful valleys in England and teens, this show was totally screaming out loud my name. Is one of those shows that make me feel calmer and forget about the stress of life because horses! On each season the stories were so interesting and great that I fell inlove with the show so yes, I was absolutely devastated when I came to the last episode and found out there will be no more seasons (thank God there were the special seasonal episodes to ease my pain but I'm still crying). My favorite part of the series was its characters so here's my rating list of them (although not all of them are here, sorry hot Marcus).

(Beware some Spoilers)

Unfortunately, even when Zoe is the protagonist of the show, she is the character I ended up liking the least. At first she is great, she is super passionate and brave and has a special connection with Raven, the untamed horse. She is the kind of protagonist you expect in this era. But as the seasons go her confidence becomes too much when she assumes she is always right. Even when she constantly has experiences that show her that she jumps (no pun intended) to wrong conclusions she never learns from them. Unlike the rest of the characters, there's no a grow in her, on the contrary in season three I hated how awful she was, especially to Gaby, and how being a heroine had come way over to her head.

Gaby is a complicated character (my favorite kind of characters). At first we see her as a villain but we get to know why she acts like that. The girl has had to take care of herself because no one else had after her parents died. She literally has nothing else but her talent of riding, so when the pride on that looks threatened by Zoe and the wrong advice from the wrong people whisper to her ear, the worst of her comes out. So even when she wants to be better and to be accepted, she doesn't change so fast.

Mia starts as the classical trope of the mean and spoiled girl but she is one of the characters that change the most. In the second season, we see how much she cares for "Bright Fields" and her horse Firefly and then in season three, she admits how her own insecurities and fears make her behave horrible even to the ones she cares about the most and she changes when she shares that vulnerability with others.

I mean, he is the mysterious-looking guy that steals medicine only because he is secretly taking care of injured horses, so of course I gave him my heart as if I was Davy Jones (sorry again hot Marcus) not to mention that the fact that he plays Kaz Brekker too sealed the deal for me. This poor unfortunate soul finds it hard to open himself up to people since his mother abandoned his family. His relationship with Zoe works because she won't give up on him until he comes out of his shell and I loved how they are always there when the other needs the encouragement to keep going. And as if that wasn't enough to love him already, the guy is also a duke!

Becky became my #1 favorite character of the series (I think they should totally consider giving her a spin-off #TeamBecky). Her character grows so much while still being her awesome self. She and her horse Bob might be underestimated at first but they end up often saving the day. She believes in all kinds of fantasy stories but that becomes a strength, especially on that island that is full of secrets and history and horses being stolen. She is the opposite of her BFF Jade, who is more of a scientific girl (who I also love), so they make the perfect team when they put their talents together. I loved seeing her become more confident when she was in charge of the kids of the Breakfast Club. I mean she is the girl that made me laugh with her lemon-green t-shirts, made me cry when Bob almost dies rescuing the horses and made me scream "You go girl!" when she went and kissed the guy she liked.

One of my favorite experiences my job at publishing has given me, and probably the one I'm most proud of, is volunteering. It also involved something very close to my heart: reading for kids and young people at a psychiatric hospital. Having dealt with anxiety and depression changed the way I see mental health and made feel me more committed to it. That's why this time I want to write about my experiences there.

THE INTRODUCTION
When they took us for the first time to the hospital we were all excited and nervous. The staff gave us a presentation and the regulations that we had to follow. We also had a tour of the place so we could see where we would be working. Since is a place meant for kids it looks a lot like a school, it has a lot of colors, rooms for activities, playgrounds. But when you enter the dormitories the reality sinks in, this is a place where kids have to stay for treatment away from their lives.

They are divided into girls and boys and the boys are also divided into two sections, mental health, and addiction recovery. The dynamic was that every week a small group of us would come to read and have activities related to the book in two groups for an hour each. The publishing made the donations of the books for the kids and the hospital.

MY EXPERIENCES
Usually, we'd all take turns reading, us the volunteers and also the kids so everyone could participate. A very common thing was to find at least one kid that said didn't want to read saying "is boring". We never forced them but as we read with the rest, they'd change their minds and slowly join. I remember one that started that way and we found out it wasn't that he didn't like to read, but that he didn't know how to read out loud very well. We made sure he didn't felt embarrassed or pressured and little by little he started to get more confident. At the end of the session, he said he enjoyed it and wanted to finish the book.

There were also kids that really liked reading and we talked with them about their favorite books and we saw how happy they'll get when we gave them the books. In one of the times, they asked us about our jobs at publishing, "I work in the digital department. My job probably didn't exist when I was your age, which wasn't that long ago," I told them, "but the world is constantly changing so your job could end up being something you hadn't anticipated".

The activities we prepared were things like drawing, coloring, writing their own endings. In these activities, you could get a glimpse at some of the kids' stories. Every now and then a kid would even tell you about why they were there, other times you'd see their wrists and figure it out. A lot had happened to them at such a young age.

MY CONCLUSION
Been a volunteer at a psychiatric can be heartbreaking. There's also the way mental health has been treated over the years, the misinformation about it has made some people scared of the patients so not everyone would go for it. I'm not gonna lie, sometimes there would be patients with odd behaviors, but they were suffering with a sickness. The first time I went I imagined how hard it could feel like being a kid going there, away from your family, friends, home, even your own bed. And harder since they were going through those difficult times.

Every time I went it was a different experience, never knowing how it was going to go. But all of them were very good and left me, not only with a feeling of purpose, but also with a lot to reflect on and to learn. Even when it was so far away and the commuting was tiring, I liked volunteering there. I felt like what we did was perhaps something very small, but their doctor would tell us how he saw an improvement in their treatments and kids would say they liked it and thanked us for going. And that made it worth it.

Suzy has become a warranty for great kdramas. And she has proven it once again with this kdrama because Start-Up definitely goes to my favorite list.

LIST OF THOUGHTS
(Beware some Spoilers)

  • It has a great love triangle.
  • At first, I assumed it would be like in other dramas and Sol Dal Mi's love interest was Han Ji Pyung. He is rich, handsome, cold but a good person at the bottom and with a sad backstory. Usually kdramas go for men like that. So what was my surprise when this drama went in the other direction.
Han Ji Pyung still gets his love story, only is a different kind of love. And it was absolutely beautiful because it was the kind of love he needed. Probably one of the best stories I've seen for a second lead. His story with grandma making him at the end inspired to help other orphans in the same situations he was in (with that perfect cameo at the final episode of Yeo Jin Goo in person) felt like a great ending.

Usually soft, shy guys that knit like Nam Do San aren't the protagonist. But at some point I realized that a) He was with Sol Dal Mi more than Han Ji Pyung and b) I wanted him to end up with our protagonist. The way he stared adoringly at Dal Mi and supported her made me be like "please don't break this sweet boy's heart". But the point where I really started to cheer for him was when he decides he won't take someone else's credit anymore and will instead become a strong person. His character arc is incredible, it was so satisfying to see how far he grows. We see Nam Do San and Sol Dal Mi grow together and they are very similar as both prioritize their beliefs like when they rather helping others over money.
  • The bromance of Samsan Tech's pioneers Lee Cheol San, Kim Yong San and of course Nam Do San. We see the deep friendship and chemistry these 3 have. It was such a great moment when they say goodbye to their old office because we see how much they have matured.
  • It shows what technology can be when is used for good causes. We usually see technology's bad and shallow side but here we see the possibilities of using it to improve people's lives. NoonGil, an app that helps people with vision problems and Tarzan a car that drives itself that will prevent people from dying in car accidents. It made me feel so inspired seeing Nam Do San and Sol Dal Mi working hard to achieve their dreams with projects inspired by Dal Mi's grandma and dad and that had the purpose of making a change. It was a story with a heart since the very first episode until the end and I loved it.

I've been working in publishing for over 5 years. It's been my first and only job and here is my story about how I got it.

THE APPLICATION

My knowledge about publishing was limited to what I had investigated and watched online but I didn't have a clue about how it worked in my country as there isn't really information about it. So what I did was to look into all my favorite books to see what their publishing house was. Turns out my options were limited. A lot of editorials are owned by the same big publishing houses while others don't have offices in my country. Yet I was encouraged by my sister to try it as there was nothing to lose.

Where I live, a cover letter isn't common but I thought it was a good way to express how much I love books and wanted to work in publishing so I send it with my CV to the email of a few publishing houses I found on their websites.

THE INTERVIEW(S)

After a while, I received a call from one of them asking me if I could go to an interview. I was super nervous but when I arrived and saw the shelves covered in books by the entrance I felt like I belonged there. However, the interview didn't go well. The nerves made my mind go blank and it was horrible. I knew I hadn't got it but my mom said I should send an email thanking them for the opportunity regardless.

A few months later I got a second call for another interview. It was for a different position but in the same company and this time I got prepared for it and felt more confident. This was my second and maybe last chance.

The interview was different from the last one, this time Human Resources and my two potential bosses were together in the room and not only asked me job-related questions but also about my favorite book and my last reading. At one point the three women left the office to talk among them and when they returned they asked about my availability. I said as soon as they needed me and when they asked if it could be the next day I said yes. That sealed the deal and I was offered the temporary job.

THE JOB

At first, it was a three-month position and my main activity was to organize the author catalog and also help with the activities of my department with the metadata and ebook production. There was so much work and the project was so complicated that it got extended for another 3 months twice. A lot of luck (seriously it was like planets aligned again and again for me to stay) and two contract renewals later I got offered a permanent position and like that 3 months turned into 5 years in publishing in a blink of an eye.

B
y the end of 2020 I needed vacations desperately. As I scrolled through the kdramas to decide which one I'll watch during those days I realized I needed one that let me escape from thinking about anything work-related (have you seen how many kdramas are settled in an office?) But then I found one with the perfect ingredients: a bookstore, a little town, a love from the past. Bum! just what I was looking for.

LIST OF THOUGHTS
(Beware some Spoilers)

  • As I mentioned I wanted needed a gateway in the form of a kdrama. Just like the protagonist Hae Won, I felt myself healing as I watched this drama.
  • The scenarios, the slow rhythm of the town reminded me the feeling of peace a lot of the Ghibli movies give to me. Through the drama we see a lot of scenes of the town community, from their everyday lives to the events they organize where everyone is involved. I wish a place like that existed so I could move there.
  • When I read in the synopsis the word "bookstore" I said, this is totally for me. As if that wasn't enough to win my heart the Goodnight bookstore host a book club. People talking about books OMG I'm melting! We get to know a little about the lives of each of the members which are very interesting mix of ages and personalities. I also found out that this is an adaptation of a book and I'm just over the moon *praying for a translation*.
  • The backstories of the characters are slowly told through the drama in such a perfect way. Especially for Hae Won's mother and aunt it was important to see their story unfold this way. I cried when it was revealed what had happened to them.
  • I love a good love from the past returning to the present. Because you get two storylines in one and because they portray second chance love.
  • Eun Seob is a complicated character. Not only because of his backstory (which is already unexpected in a good way) but also in his personality. I'm an introvert too and can relate to him since we both find it easier to write our emotions and thoughts or show them in our actions rather than to say them out loud but I still struggled to understand him sometimes I was like boy, wake up! she's already making it easy for you.

I'll Go To You When The Weather Is Nice (When the Weather Is Fine) was like was catered to me, with all the things I love and needed that I just can't believe my luck that I found this kdrama at exactly the right time. It felt like going somewhere to heal.

Y
ou know that feeling of emptiness when you finish a good kdrama? I was of course expecting it when I finished The King, but this time I felt lost for quite a while because this drama was so perfect in so many ways. In the middle of the pandemic, this drama gave me a reason to be excited about every week. Because it gave me not only the visuals of Lee Min Ho and Woo Do Hwan but also an intelligent story with mind-blowing twists.

LIST OF THOUGHTS
(Beware some Spoilers)

  • We saw it in Goblin and now we also have it in The King: a great bromance. Jo Yeong and Lee Gon are the definition of #FriendshipGoals. From the moment they meet as kids to the end where we see Jo Yeong protecting the king in both his adult and young forms. I couldn't help but fangirling every time I saw this pair on scene for the chemistry they had in every episode.
  • And speaking of Jo Yeong, let's talk about the boy that stole our hearts and made us swoon, Woo Do Hwan. This handsome man deserves so many awards because he is an incredible actor. He made Jo Eun Seob and Jo Yeong so unique and different and then he takes it to the next level when he plays one of them pretending to be the other. Some of the best scenes are when we have this pair interacting with each other. There is one episode where we barely see him and let me tell you, I really felt his absence.
  • Woo Do Hwan and Lee Min Ho in uniforms. I didn't know I needed in my life the image of Lee Min Ho washing rice in a uniform until I saw it.
  • That epic action sequence of Jo Yeong and Lee Gon. They look so cool, and this comes from a person that usually gets bored with action scenes (seriously, I've slept in a lot of action movies) but this one had me at the edge of my seat and made me feel totally impressed. It was shot like in a video game and has a perfect choreography of the actors and the cameramen that made me so excited.
  • The best hugs scenes everrrrrr. The scene where Lee Gon saves Tae-Eul in the middle of the street is just glorious. And not just that, but that kiss on the neck? probably one of the sexiest kisses I've seen in a kdrama.
  • The writer is a genius. There are so many little details that later on we understand and see how everything connects. As a viewer, I got the satisfaction of seeing things coming together. Some of them I did guess correctly like that the guy saving young Lee Gon was his older self (thanks to City Hunter I can now recognize Lee Min-Ho anywhere) while others totally made my mind explode: pretty much everything in episode 14.
If I had to describe this drama in one world it would be EPIC. Epic story, epic scenes, epic encounters and epic acting, this drama has it all.

So Abril, what are you doing watching 13 year-olds? you weren't even part of the generation that grew up with the books. Well, excuse me yes I'm a 29 old woman that still loves teen shows and a YA book fan that knows how iconic the books were (see, good things can come up from Twitter). In short, this show is totally my style. And I didn't know how much it is my style but after watching the first episode, it was clear I needed The Babysitters Club in my life.

As each episode is narrated by one of the girls you get to know them more, their families, and you see their friendship growing. And you can't help falling in love with the series because basically everything that is good in this world is in it.

All of the girls have challenges to face, they aren't perfect and are 13, that age when changes are pretty much part of your everyday routine, so they go through things in life a lot of us can feel familiar with. Personally, I feel I was more like Mary Anne, a shy introvert, and yes, overprotected too.  I loved seeing her grew in the show, how she finds more of a balance with her dad and how not only she voices herself, but others that can't too.

All the episodes are gold, GOLD people, but for me the episode I found the most really interesting is "Claudia and Mean Janine" when Claudia learns more about her grandma and finds what she really wants to express in her art. Claudia Kishi is the girl I wish I was, she is so cool and confident and I love how she expresses herself in her fashion.

I really wish we get another season, I liked how diverse the main cast is and the way it portrays important themes as transgender rights and equality. Is a series I wish I'd had when I was a 13-year-old but I'm happy I can appreciate it as a 29-year-old.

First episodes are important, from them I decide whether I'll keep watching or not because it sets the atmosphere of the kdrama. Every now and then you'll get to a great first episode, one that makes you feel like you have found a precious gemstone. I've looked into my collection of those gemstones and chose the best one (yet). Ready? The best first episode award goes to... While You Were Sleeping. (Ok, you knew already because of the header above but just go along with me).

I remember when I watched it I was completely awestruck, gasping and feeling excited with every scene, and when it finished I thought: now that's a first episode. Because it was P.E.R.F.E.C.T. (I watched it again to write this entry and let me tell you, I fell in love with it again because it is that good).

LIST OF THOUGHTS
(Just of the 1st episode) (Beware some Spoilers)

  • You get all the feels. Is funny, then there's action, then is sad, and then there's more action. And let me tell you, action scenes aren't my cup of tea (what can I say, in movies, they even put me to sleep), so they have to be really good to keep me interested. Why it works here? because they made me get invested in the characters and what happened to them and because they were there for the story.
  • And speaking of the story, it manages to set the premise of it so well. And that's so hard to do because this drama goes back and forth in time and that means you don't want your audience to get confused. The fantasy element had to be put perfectly clear for everyone to understand how it worked but in a slow way because they also wanted to surprise us at the end.
  • I'm telling you, Park Hye Ryun is a genius screenwriter. She is the one behind amazing kdramas (Pinocchio, I Hear Your Voice, Dream High) and just when you think you have watched her best drama, she surprises you with more because she just keeps improving more and more. Masterpieces, that's what she writes.
  • You don't expect all those twists and turns (in just one episode!) I'm just saying, I was at the edge of my seat for the whole episode.
  • Watching Suzy and Lee Jong Suk in a kdrama is already a delight for my eyes but is even better when they play such adorable protagonists. In the first episode, we get to know a bit of who they are as we see them in their respective perspectives.
  • We get a perfect circle in the story a.k.a, we start and end with the same scene. The whole episode is to get to know what happens in between those scenes. Because even when they are the same, they happen at different times. And the cinematography of that scene in itself is so beautiful that it becomes iconic.
  • The bests first episodes need to make you want more. That's why this one is a success because it leaves you thinking: wow, if this is just the 1st episode, the rest of the drama must be amazing too, I can't wait to see more of it.
